What is water mitigation?

When water damage happens it is important to asses and begin water mitigation as soon as possible, but what is water mitigation?  The word mitigation means "the action of reducing the severity, seriousness, or painfulness of something."  The same goes for your home, we want to stop the damage from spreading as water tends to do, and keep mold from becoming an issue.  As seen in the before photo, this living room had laminate flooring.  Anyone in restoration know, it does not handle moisture well.  By SERVPRO of Alachua County West being "Faster to any size disaster," we were able to save some of the laminate flooring in the room.  The after photo shows the homeowner saved over 50% of their flooring by calling SERVPRO of Alachua County West as soon as the leak was discovered.
